The aim of this study was to explore and evaluate the use of Artificial Intelligence in the development of Mathematics lesson plans. The study is based on an activity carried out with pre-service Mathematics teachers, which involved developing lesson plans using ChatGPT. The lesson plans produced and the records generated during the activity were analyzed from a qualitative perspective. The results indicate that most pre-service teachers were able to develop consistent prompts; however, hallucinations generated by the tool were identified, particularly regarding alignment with the Base Nacional Comum Curricular and estimates of actual class time. Artificial Intelligence can be used for lesson planning, provided that its use is guided by the teacher’s critical, ethical, and pedagogical judgment.
