Source abstract

Abstract Dynamics and performance of a strongly nonlinear attachment in a parametrically excited system are examined. Dynamic behavior of the system is analyzed and the conditions for the various regimes of oscillation are revealed. Addition of the essentially nonlinear attachment to linear parametrically excited system brings about a family of responses with bounded amplitude and thus prevents the exponential divergence typical for the parametric resonance. Regimes and conditions, optimal for the vibration absorption, are described.
