Source abstract

Consider placing the numbers 1,…,n1, \ldots, n consecutively around an nn-cycle. We ask for a given nn, which numbers kk can be written as a sum of consecutive numbers on the nn-cycle. If all numbers between 11 and TnT_n, the nnth triangular number, can be written as a sum this way we say the nn-cycle is complete. Our main result shows that for n≥8n\geq 8, nn-cycles are incomplete.
