Source abstract

This research presents an integrated analysis that combines Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and structural degradation of structural materials and components, with the aim of understanding the relationship between long-term performance and the environmental impact of buildings. LCA is an important tool for analyzing environmental impacts from the extraction of raw materials to the end of their service life. Structural degradation represents a direct challenge to the sustainability of buildings and includes mechanisms such as corrosion, fatigue, and creep. The study highlights the importance of shifting from static models to dynamic models based on real data, using artificial intelligence and real-time monitoring techniques, as illustrated in Figure (6). It recommends applying this methodology in the design, maintenance, and environmental assessment phases to enhance the sustainability and operational efficiency of facilities.
