Source abstract

This article presents an immersed finite element method of lines for solving parabolic moving interface problems with a non-homogeneous flux jump. The immersed finite elements are used for spatial discretization, which allow the material interface to be embedded in the interior of elements in the mesh. This feature makes it possible to employ the method of lines for solving a moving interface problem over a fixed solution mesh. Numerical experiments are provided to show features of this new method.
