Source abstract

Given a variety XX with a self-map φφ and subvarieties YY and ZZ of XX, we consider the set of nn for which φn(Y)φ^n(Y) intersects ZZ nontrivially. Extending a beautiful construction of Lee and Nam, we show this gives rise to an undecidable problem for a fixed ambient variety XX and morphism φφ. We further use this construction to give a counterexample to a conjecture of the author, Satriano, and Sierra.
