The study analyzed recent trends in research on argumentation in mathematics education. The PRISMA protocol was applied, and an analysis matrix was developed to identify predominant approaches, perspectives, and theories, as well as the relationships between theory and practice and gaps in the literature. The results show a concentration of qualitative studies at the secondary and higher education levels. Similarly, it highlights an incipient treatment of technological mediation as an instructional or operational tool in argumentative practices.
