Source abstract

This study aims to map research trends on students' mathematics anxiety from 2020 to 2026, identify its effects on learning processes and outcomes, and synthesize learning strategies used to address it. The method used was a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) based on the procedural framework. Literature searches were conducted through Google Scholar, Publish or Perish, ResearchGate, DOAJ, SINTA, and Scopus. Of 38 identified articles, 19 met the selection criteria and were analyzed. The findings show that publications on mathematics anxiety tended to increase during 2024–2026. Mathematics anxiety was associated with reduced concentration, lower self-confidence, avoidance of mathematics learning, and lower academic achievement and problem-solving performance in several studies. The identified strategies included contextual learning, cooperative learning, concrete media and educational games, positive reinforcement, psychological support, and the development of mathematical resilience and self-regulation. The study concludes that mathematics anxiety is a multidimensional issue and its mitigation should be adapted to students' characteristics and learning contexts.
