Source abstract

Let k>1k > 1 be the fundamental discriminant, and let χ(n)\chi(n), ε\varepsilon and hh be the real primitive character modulo kk, the fundamental unit and the class number of the real quadratic field Q(k)\mathbf{Q}(\sqrt{k} ), respectively. And let [x][x] denote the greatest integer not greater than xx. In [3], M.-G. Leu showed h=[k/(2log⁡ε)∑n=1kχ(n)/n]+1h = \big[ \sqrt{k} / (2\log{\varepsilon}) \sum_{n=1}^k \chi(n) / n \big] + 1 for all kk, and h=[k/(2log⁡ε)∑n=1[k/2]χ(n)/n]h = \big[ \sqrt{k} / (2\log{\varepsilon}) \sum_{n=1}^{[k/2]} \chi(n) / n \big] in the case k≠m2+4k \neq m^2 + 4 with m∈Zm \in \mathbf{Z}. In this paper we will show h=[k/(2log⁡ε)∑n=1[k/2]χ(n)/n]h = \big[ \sqrt{k} / (2\log{\varepsilon}) \sum_{n=1}^{[k/2]} \chi(n) / n \big] for all fundamental discriminants k>1k > 1.
