Source abstract

This study aims to: (1) identify the differences in science learning outcomes before and after the application of the STEAM model and Discovery Learning, and (2) determine the effectiveness of the STEAM learning model in improving science learning outcomes. This study was conducted using a quasi-experiment method. The samples in this study were class VII K as the experiment class and class VII J as the control class. The results showed (1) there was no difference in science learning outcomes before the application of STEAM and discovery model, (2) there was a significant difference between the students' science learning outcomes before and after the implementation of STEAM model, and (3) there was a significant difference between the science learning outcomes after the implementation of STEAM model in experiment class and the discovery learning in control class. Furthermore, the application of the STEAM learning model is quite effective for science learning, with an N-Gain percentage of 60%. This shows that the Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) learning model can improve the science learning outcomes of seventh-grade students at SMP Negeri 5 Kendari.
