The fishbowl technique improves the sharing of ideas in a structured conversational environment, adding depth and excitement to creative thought; it further promotes active observation and a secure discussion atmosphere, fostering the development of innovative solutions among learners, therefore; the current research aims to investigate the effectiveness of the Fishbowl strategy as one of the active learning strategies in teaching mathematics to develop creative thinking among fourth-grade students in basic education in Dhofar Governorate. An experimental approach with a quasi-experimental design was applied, where a sample consisting of two groups was selected: an experimental group (which studied using the Fishbowl strategy) and a control group (which studied using the conventional strategy), with a total of 60 students. The research instrument consisted of a creative thinking test for fourth-grade students in basic education. The results indicated a statistically significant difference (α ≤ 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group and the control group in the creative thinking post-test, favoring the experimental group students. Several suggestions were proposed, such as focusing on the creation of mathematics curriculum activities that spark students’ interest and foster their creative thinking abilities, implementing teaching models that promote active learning and minimizing dependence on rote memorization.
