Additive technologies are widely used in various industries and have become an integral part of modern manufacturing. Mathematical modeling of heat transfer and phase transformation processes is an important tool for studying and describing the effects of different laser processing regimes on materials. The use of additive technologies makes it possible to achieve high accuracy and efficiency in material processing under high-temperature conditions. However, in most cases, mathematical modeling results are based on smooth and geometrically regular specimens, which does not always reflect actual processing conditions. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the features of physicochemical processes occurring within a melt pool in specimens containing cracks or irregularities. Objectives. The aim of this study is to expand the understanding of the physicochemical processes occurring within a melt pool in porous specimens and to establish an analytical relationship between the area of material melted in the longitudinal section of a crack and the crack dimensions (width and depth). Methods Applied. The study employs methods of mathematical statistics, mathematical modeling using the COMSOL Multiphysics software package, and numerical methods. Originality. An analytical relationship between the area of material melted under the action of a single laser pulse in the longitudinal section of a crack and the geometric characteristics of the crack has been established. Results. Based on the results of numerical modeling, a multiple linear regression equation has been developed describing the analytical relationship between the area of melted material in the longitudinal section of a crack under the action of a single laser pulse and the geometric characteristics of the crack. The quality of the obtained approximation equation has been evaluated, and its statistical validity has been substantiated at a significance level of 95%. Practical Relevance. The results of the study can be used as a basis for improving crack sealing and crack injection processes, as well as for reducing porosity depth without the addition of external materials.
