Source abstract

Nigeria’s economy is presently at its lowest level ever since the independence with high unemployment, increasing cost of living, high exchange rate, rising rate of insecurity and death rate. The advent of technology has changed the present-day economy of the world, Nigeria inclusive thus Digital education has become an essential instrument for economic transformation in Nigeria. This paper explores how digital education can serve as a strategic lever for reviving Nigeria’s economy through improved access, skill development, and innovation. Empirical data is provided on internet and broadband penetration, youth demographics, government initiatives, and skill gaps. Findings indicate that Nigeria faces growing numbers of internet users, youth skill programs and hence serious challenges on infrastructure deficits, digital divide and skill mismatches. It is recommended that investments in digital infrastructure, integrating digital education into national development strategies will likely bring about sustainable economic revitalization through reduction of income disparities (especially rural‐urban) in Nigeria.
