Analysis of Matana University Students Views on Insurance in Indonesia

A study conducted at Matana University in mid-December 2023 successfully investigated students' level of awareness regarding insurance. Using a purposive sampling technique, the study collected answers from 30 students through an online survey. Analysis based on descriptive statistical methods yielded credible data with an alpha coefficient of 0.7, indicating high reliability, and correlation of valid data above the 0.355 threshold. The survey involving 30 students revealed that the majority of respondents were 20 years old with a female proportion of 62%. A total of 91% of them were registered as insurance policyholders, mainly life insurance, with BPJS Kesehatan being the top choice, reflecting a preference for more economical insurance options from the government. The survey results also highlight students' views that insurance is not only important as health insurance and financial security, but also as an investment tool. This finding confirms students' mature understanding of the role of insurance as protection and long-term financial management.
