Source abstract

This work establishes the Visual System Economy framework to evaluate visual recovery by linking the pre-intervention state S with the post-intervention state S*. To model this state transition, the system formulates a scalar delay differential equation evaluated via Padé approximations. The coefficients of the differential equation are derived directly from clinical data: functional gain G from interregional coherence, metabolic attenuation eta from SPECT, and the critical time delay tau. These measurements are incorporated using normalized Z-scores. Applying this approach to congenital strabismus allows for the analysis of nystagmus dynamics. The results demonstrate how functional conductivity and damping parameters dictate system stability and determine the profile of the physiological response.
