Competitive Coexistence in an Oscillating Chemostat
Hal L. Smith
Source abstract
An ordinary differential equation model of two species competing for a single essential nutrient in a periodic environment is studied. Coexistence of the two species is demonstrated when the amplitude of the forcing is not too small nor too large. The results explain some of the results obtained from numerical simulation of chemostat experiments [9].
