Source abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the wave propagation behavior in nanoscale sandwich plates with different triply periodic minimal surface (TPMS) core geometries and porous surface layers. Although advanced theories are used in the mechanical analysis of nanostructures in the literature, studies combining architectural cores, porous surface layers, and the effect of temperature are quite limited. To fill this gap, a sandwich nanoplate consisting of three different nickel TPMS cores (Wrapped Package‐Graph, Primitive, and Schoen Gyroid) and three different zirconium–nickel porous surface layers (Type‐I, Type‐II, and Type‐III) was modeled. The governing equations were derived by combining Hamilton's principle and the sinusoidal high‐order shear deformation theory (SHSDT) with nonlocal elasticity theory, and solutions were obtained analytically. The effects of temperature, strain gradient elasticity, nonlocal parameter, porosity coefficient, TPMS relative density, TPMS, and distribution types on the phase velocity and frequency of waves were systematically analyzed. The results show that the wave propagation characteristics can be highly tuned by modifying the TPMS topology and pore distribution. This tunability makes the proposed structure suitable for applications such as radar cloaking technology, high‐frequency NEMS devices, and smart sensors. The study provides a new perspective on the dynamic behavior of TPMS‐based nano‐sandwich structures.
