This book presents the fundamentals of mathematical modeling of physical and chemical processes using computational fluid dynamics and heat transfer as examples. It focuses on constructing mathematical models of continuum mechanics and parallel methods for solving discrete analogs of the govering equations. A critical analysis of traditional modeling methods and numerical approaches is provided. New approaches and algorithms (computational macromechanics, robust multigrid technique and the formal decomposition principle) for advanced black-box software are presented. The models and numerical methods discussed are designed for solving industrial problems. This book is intended for undergraduate and graduate students as well as software developers for modeling physical and chemical processes in aeronautical and space engineering, power engineering, chemical engineering and other branches of mechanical engineering.
