Source abstract

Let TT be a linear power bounded operator on a Banach space XX and let Sλ=(1−λ)I+λTS_{\lambda} = (1−\lambda)I + \lambda T be the averaged map of TT, where λ∈(0,1)\lambda \in (0,1). It is shown that SλS_{\lambda} is asymptotically regular on XX; that is, lim⁡n→∞∥Sλnx−Sλn+1x∥=0\lim_{n \to \infty} \| S_{\lambda}^{n}x - S_{\lambda}^{n+1}x \| = 0 for every x∈Xx \in X. Hence the sequence {Sλnx}\{S_{\lambda}^{n}x\} converges strongly provided it has a weak cluster point.
