The main objective of this research is to develop a new rectangular element that utilizes Shi’s third-order shear deformation plate theory (TSDT) to analyze the bending and free vibration of bi-functionally graded sandwich (BFGSW) plates resting on non-uniform elastic foundations (NUEF). The proposed element uses the four nodes with seven degrees of freedom (DOFs) per node relying on a combination of Lagrange and Hermite interpolations for establishing the governing equation of plates. The BFGSW plates are composed of a ceramic core and two different face sheets made of functionally graded materials. The gained results of this formulation are tested with various examples to confirm its accuracy and applicability. Moreover, this study examines the effects of input parameters on the static and free vibration analysis of BFGSW plates.
