Source abstract

This research assessed the extent of parental involvement, level of study habits and mathematics achievement of the Grade 10 students at San Jose National High School in District of Poro for school year 2024 – 2025 as basis for an action plan using descriptive correlational research design. There were 64 students who participated in study and were identified using total enumeration. The data gathered were treated using frequency count, percentage and Pearson’s r. The results revealed that the extent of parents’ involvement in terms of school-related activities is involved while parents’ involvement in terms of family-emotional support is moderately involved. However, the extent of parents’ involvement in terms of parent-teacher contact is involved. Furthermore, results showed that the respondents’ level of study habits is very good and level of mathematics achievement is satisfactory. There existed a significant relationship between parents’ involvement and mathematics achievement. Parental involvement is therefore important for better learning in this subject. On the contrary, there was no significant relationship between the respondents’ study habits and mathematics achievement. It is concluded that parents’ involvement can positively influence students’ achievement in mathematics yet study habits still hold a crucial role in students’ academic success though there’s no significant relationship between the two. Hence, it is recommended that the action plan crafted be utilized, implemented, and monitored.
