This quantitative case study, which was carried out in a Grade 7 class, investigated the impact of origami - a play based mode of pedagogy- in unison with the Gurteen Knowledge Café approach on learners' performance in solving geometry problems. This study involved two groups of participants: the control (n= 28) utilized the traditional approach and the experimental (n = 30) utilized origami. Kolb's experiential learning cycle was employed as the theoretical framework. Data was gathered through classroom observations and a standardized test on geometry. The marks each group of participants obtained in the standardized test were modelled quantitatively utilizing the Bayesian mixed effect Beta regression model. The outcome of this analysis revealed that the experimental group's marks were statistically significantly better compared to the control group's marks; this evidence adduced that origami is better. Therefore, this study recommends integrating origami-based strategies into South Africa's Grade 7 mathematics curriculum to foster spatial reasoning and improve learning outcomes.
