Source abstract

A graph GG is said to be HH-saturated if GG contains no copy of HH, but G+eG+e contains a copy of HH for any edge ee of G‾\overline{G}. The saturation number of HH, denoted by sat(n,H)\mathrm{sat}(n, H), is the minimum number of edges among all HH-saturated graphs of order nn. In this paper, we investigate the saturation number of K3∨PkK_3 \vee P_k for k≥3k \ge 3 and show that sat(n,K3∨Pk)=3n−6+sat(n−3,Pk)\mathrm{sat}(n, K_3 \vee P_k) = 3n - 6 + \mathrm{sat}(n-3, P_k) holds for all n≥ak+3n \ge a_k + 3 and k≥3k \ge 3, which verifies the conjecture [Discrete Appl. Math, 394(2026) 62-80] on sat(n,Ks∨Pk)\mathrm{sat}(n, K_s \vee P_k) is true for the case s=3s=3, where ak=ka_k = k for 3≤k≤53 \le k \le 5, ak=3⋅2t−1−2a_k = 3 \cdot 2^{t-1} - 2 for k=2t≥6k = 2t \ge 6, and ak=2t+1−2a_k = 2^{t+1} - 2 for k=2t+1≥7k = 2t + 1 \ge 7.
