Source abstract

The relevance of the research is due to the negative impact of biofouling on the accuracy of shipboard navigation instruments, in particular hydrodynamic logs of a new type, which leads to errors in determining speed and distance traveled. The aim of the work is mathematical and simulation modeling of the propagation process of ultrasonic waves in the receiving tube of a hydrodynamic log to substantiate the parameters of an anti-fouling protection system based on the phenomenon of cavitation. The COMSOL Multiphysics software package, which allows solving coupled multiphysics problems, was used as a research tool. The simulation results visualize the distribution of the ultrasonic field over the surface and in the volume of the tube, confirming the possibility of generating acoustic cavitation to destroy the organic layer. The obtained data enable the creation of a compact protection system placed in the clinket, which increases the reliability of navigation equipment and reduces operating costs.
