Source abstract

Let G=(V(G),E(G))G=(V(G), E(G)) be a graph of order n∈Nn\in \mathbb{N} and let f:V(G)→{0,1,2}f:V(G)\rightarrow \{0,1,2\} be a hop Roman dominating function (HRDF) on GG. For each j∈{0,1,2}j \in \{0, 1, 2\}, let Vj={y∈V(G):f(y)=j}V_j=\{y \in V(G): f(y)=j\}. Then ff can be written as f=(V0,V1,V2)f=(V_0, V_1, V_2). A function ff is a restrained hop Roman dominating function (RHRDF) on GG provided that for every v∈V0v\in V_0, there exists u∈V0∖{v}u\in V_0\setminus \{v\}, and w∈V2w\in V_2 such that dG(u,v)=1d_G(u, v)=1 and dG(v,w)=2d_G(v, w)=2. The weight of RHRDF ff denoted by ωGrhR(f)\omega_G^{rhR}(f) is the sum ωGrhR(f)=∑x∈V(G)f(x)\omega_G^{rhR}(f)=\sum_{x \in V(G)}f(x), that is, ωGrhR(f)=∣V1∣+2∣V2∣\omega_G^{rhR}(f)=|V_1|+2|V_2|. The restrained hop Roman domination number of a graph GG denoted by γrhR(G)\gamma_{rhR}(G) is the minimum weight of an RHRDF on GG, that is, γrhR(G)=min{ωGrhR(f):f is an RHRDF on G}\gamma_{rhR}(G)=min\{\omega_G^{rhR}(f): f \ is \ an \ \text{RHRDF} \ on \ G \}. Every RHRDF ff on GG with the restriction ωGrhR(f)=γrhR(G)\omega_{G}^{rhR}(f)= \gamma_{rhR}(G) is called a γrhR\gamma_{rhR}-function on GG. This paper introduces the concept of restrained hop Roman domination in graphs as a new restricted parameter and discusses some important theoretical properties.
