Source abstract

Abstract Math modeling is a unique and powerful part of mathematics that is underutilized in contemporary classrooms. Teachers of all grade levels may utilize such modeling problems to better serve the students in their classrooms, with related analytical problem-solving activities that contribute to learners meeting the highest of learning standards. With a continued focus within mathematics education on critical thinking, creativity, disciplinary literacy and college/career readiness, math modeling is at the forefront of research-tested methods to develop these crucial skills. This is an important direction mathematics education that needs to go in order to prepare students for the future.
