This article discusses the development of motivation and interest in learning Mathematics among 6th grade students at Bairro Campo Primary School, Cela Municipality (Waku-Kungo), Cuanza Sul Province, Angola. Mathematics, at the early stages of schooling, is of particular importance given the psychological characteristics of childhood, with motivation acting as a key catalyst for meaningful learning of this subject. The general objective was to characterize the relationship between motivation and Mathematics learning among 6th grade students at the referred school. A mixed qualitative-quantitative approach was adopted, combining theoretical methods (analytical-synthetic, historical-logical, inductive-deductive), the empirical survey method, and mathematical-statistical treatment of data. The study involved 3 teachers and 81 students, selected through purposive non-probabilistic sampling. Results reveal shortcomings in the development of students' motivation for learning mathematical content, associated with the predominant use of traditional teaching methods, weak mastery of multiplication tables, limited continuous teacher training in the field, and scarce use of diversified, particularly technological, teaching resources. It is concluded that strengthening motivational strategies centered on the student as an active subject of their own learning is essential for improving Mathematics achievement indicators.
