Source abstract

Abstract It is usually supposed that the energy of activation is confined to a few degrees of freedom. On this assumption the expression for the chance that a molecule possesses energy in excess of E is ℯ-E/RT with sufficient exactness for most purposes. The rate of bimolecular reactions is quite adequately expressed by the equation number of molecules reacting = Zℯ-E/RT, where Z is the number entering into collision.
