Results of an experimental investigation to determine various stress states in 16" x 0.375-inch spiral welded line pipe. Majority of measurements were made on the inside surface of the pipe, in the immediate vicinity of the weld line. Also results are presented for out-of-roundness investigations on 15-foot length pipe, which had not been in service. It should be emphasized that results generated by this investigation are specific to this particular section of pipe and should not be extended to spiral welded line pipe in general.Residual stresses were determined in two specimens. No conclusions were generated regarding the effect of pressure cycling on residual stress.
