Source abstract

Mathematics instruction in junior high school still struggles to connect abstract concepts with real-life problem-solving, particularly in the social arithmetic topic, where textbook-based teaching limits students' conceptual understanding. This study aimed to develop an electronic student worksheet (E-LKPD) grounded in a mathematical modeling approach for seventh-grade social arithmetic content at SMPN 4 Martapura and to examine its validity and practicality for classroom use. A Research and Development method was employed, combining the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) with Tessmer's formative evaluation stages. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to three validators (a subject matter expert, an instructional design expert, and a media expert) and to student respondents across one-to-one, small-group, and field trials, then analyzed descriptively using percentage-based scoring. Expert validation produced an overall average score of 87%, categorized as "Excellent," with content and instructional-design validity rated "Very Good" and media validity rated "Good." Practicality trials yielded consistently high scores across all three stages, each categorized as "Excellent," with no critical feedback recorded from respondents at any stage. These findings indicate that the developed E-LKPD is both valid and practical for supporting mathematics instruction. The study contributes an integrated approach combining digital worksheet development with mathematical modeling pedagogy, offering junior-secondary mathematics teachers a technology-based instructional resource and a replicable, formative validation procedure for future digital instructional material development.
