Source abstract

We give an obstruction to the existence of bundles E\mathcal E on a smooth nn-dimensional polarized variety such that E\mathcal E is aa-regular and E∗(KX+(n+1)H){\mathcal E}^*(K_X+(n+1)H) is bb-regular. In particular, this gives an obstruction to the existence of weakly Ulrich bundles. Using the latter and some recent examples of [A1] in dimension 22, we prove that for any n≥2n \ge 2 there exist many smooth nn-dimensional varieties XX with a very ample line bundle HH, such that there is no weakly Ulrich bundle for (X,H)(X,H).
