Source abstract

The article presents the development and experimental verification results of an induction heater mathematical model for the industrial disposal of artillery fuzes such as B-90 and RGM-2. The existing technologies for the disposal of fuses used by various military-industrial complex enterprises are considered, and the prospects of using induction heating for these purposes as the safest and most effective are substantiated. A mathematical model of the heating process for B-90 and RGM-2 type fuses has been developed taking into account their design features, weight and dimensional characteristics and material thermophysical properties. An approach to modeling the fuse as a body with reduced values of thermophysical characteristics is proposed, which made it possible to significantly simplify calculations without accuracy loss. To build a fuse "thermal portrait", the ELCUT software package was used using an experimental iterative method for determining the optimal number of nodes in the computational grid. The results of experimental studies on the INV-400 experimental induction installation are presented including the data on the fuse heating dynamics, temperature conditions and time characteristics of the process until the fuse de-installation. The description of the experimental setup, the measuring equipment used, as well as the test conditions for the effect of induction heating on the fuse are given. A comparison of the calculated and experimental data on the heating of various fuse firing chain elements was carried out, which confirmed the adequacy of the developed mathematical model with an error within 6%. The results of the study can be used to design continuous-action industrial installations for the disposal of artillery fuses by induction heating, which is essential for solving the urgent problem of the military-industrial complex for the safe expired ammunition disposal.
